Cursor Singularity

Your mouse cursor is a black hole. Hold left click to pull stuff in. The more you eat the bigger you get, and the bigger you get the more you can eat. That part is easy.
The catch is heat. Sucking makes you hot, and at 100% you go CRITICAL. You get 1.5 seconds to hit SPACE. Hit it and you go supernova and wipe out everything around you for a pile of points. Miss it and you blow up and lose 40% of your mass. Right click pushes things away and cools you down, if you're the careful type.
Runs are 60 seconds. Every run starts calm, throws two random events at you around the middle (duck storms, gravity flips, a rival black hole showing up...) and ends with a final feast where everything falls toward you.
What's in it
- 10 kinds of things to eat. Pebbles, crates, golden stars, bombs that run away from you, giants you can't eat until you supernova, satellites that dive at you, and ducks. Ducks are worth 69 points. They quack.
- 7 powerups, plus rival black holes (VOID-7, DARK STEVE and friends) that steal your food until you're big enough to eat them.
- 8 modes: Classic, Time Attack, Endless, Zen, Hardcore, Duck Mode (everything is a duck), a Daily seed with its own leaderboard and streak, and Duel.
- The main menu is a level. The options are planets orbiting your hole, and you pick one by eating it. Arrow keys and Enter work too, and there's a normal menu in Options if that's too much.
- Upgrades, 6 skins, 22 achievements, and 12 ranks going from Dust Enjoyer up to... the last one is a secret.
Playing with friends
Ghost race. Every run you finish gives you a ghost code, a couple thousand characters of text. Click it on the end screen (or press C) to copy it, then paste it in a comment, a Discord, wherever. Whoever pastes it into RACE A GHOST plays the exact same board while your run replays next to them. Your last 10 ghosts are saved there too, so you can race yourself. No accounts, no servers. Codes from the browser version work in the download and the other way around.
Couch duel. Two black holes, one screen. Player 1 is on the mouse, player 2 gets a gamepad or the left side of the same keyboard. Get 1.3x bigger than the other hole, sit on top of it, and eat it. Best of 3.
Online duel. Download version only for now. Press HOST, send your friend the invite code, they paste it under JOIN, you're in. No port forwarding on most home routers (on strict ones your friend sends back a reply code, the game tells you when). It uses rollback netcode, so it doesn't feel laggy. You both need the same version of the game.
Controls
Move the mouse: move your hole
Hold left click: suck
Hold right click: push things away and cool down
Space (while CRITICAL): supernova
Esc: pause
C (end screen): copy your ghost code
F11 (download version): fullscreen
Player 2 in a couch duel: WASD to move, Q suck, E push, F supernova. Or a gamepad: left stick, RT suck, LT push, A supernova.
Browser or download?
The browser version has everything except online duels. Your progress is saved in your browser. You need a mouse and a keyboard, so it won't really work on a phone or tablet.
The Windows download is a single .exe, nothing to install, and it has online duels. Windows might warn you the first time because the exe isn't signed: click "More info" and then "Run anyway".
Options has Reduce Flashes (on by default), Reduce Motion, a colorblind palette, UI scale, a plain HUD, and the normal menu if eating planets isn't your thing.
Made by Bone Kiln & MexaVLS. Pixel art by MexaVLS. All the sound and music is generated in code, there isn't a single audio file in the game.
Found a bug or got a crazy score? Drop it in the comments. Paste your ghost code too (it's just your moves, your score and your player name, nothing else). Don't post your online INVITE code publicly though, that one is only for the friend you're playing with.

Love that the menu itself is a playground: you steer the hole and eat a planet to pick a mode, and I racked up a little combo just wandering into the upgrades screen. It took me a moment to realise the planets were the buttons, so a short pulse on Classic the very first time might help.
Thanks for playing, and for the combo in the upgrades screen 😄 You’re right, the planets being the buttons isn’t obvious on the first launch. Next update makes CLASSIC pulse the very first time so new players know where to start.
